Collins PTA: Parents-Teachers Association
Although Cupertino sends a large amount of money in property taxes to Sacramento, we come at the very bottom to get any funding from the State. We are one of the lowest funded school districts. As a result a lot of programs go unfunded. This is where PTA comes in the picture. Many parents would like to know PTA does with the funds that are raised.
What does PTA do with the funds
PTA supports the school in providing Art, Music and P.E. to our children. PTA also uses the money for extended library hours, assemblies, programs such as Red Ribbon Week, Reflections, Junior Grade Books.
Without parents' help through direct donations or other fundraising activities, it will be difficult to keep all the programs for our children.
How can you help PTA: Here are the ways you can help the PTA.
Become a PTA member
If you are not already a member, please become members of PTA. Send a check for $10 (payable to Collins PTA) per person. Membership entitles you to many benefits including attending general body meetings of PTA, having the opportunity to make a difference by providing your valuable input, and best of all getting the student directory for free.Direct Donations
We are asking for direct donations of $150 per family. Many parents have already donated. PTA is very thankful to them. These donations directly help your child through various programs. So please send them quickly. The earlier we meet our goal of $60,000, more we can plan for the entire school year. Some employers match donations. Please ask your employer if they will match your donation.
You can send a check in favor of Collins PTA. You can give the check to your child’s teacher or put it in the PTA box at the schools office. You can also pay online
Your donations are tax deductible. Collins PTA is a non profit organization under section 501 (C) 3 of the IRS tax code, TAX ID #77-0034798.eScrip
This is the easiest way to help your school without any additional cost. Many local area shops donate a portion of your purchase to the PTA. All you need to do is enroll your cards (such as Safeawy card, credit card etc) at eScrip web site. Visit http://www.escrip.com and follow the directions. Please make sure you enroll using Collins School’s Group ID 137823295Other fundraising activities
Besides direct donations and eScrips we are planning other Fundraising activities such as Cookie Dough sale, Fall Festival, Walk-a-thon and Spirit wear T-Shirts and a few more events for the school. Here are some other ways you can help the PTA.
Campbell labels: Box Tops from General Mills also help us earn money for the school. You only need to save the front labels for Campbell products and cut out the small boxtops on other items. Just put them in a ziplock and drop off at the PTA table. We will take care of the rest.
Inkjet/Laserjet Cartridges/Cell phone recycle: Bring your used Inkjet/laserjet cartridges and cell phones to Collins. We send them to a recycle company and the PTA gets cash back for them. A deposit box is available in the administration office. Please make sure the cartridges are wrapped with paper or inside a zip lock bag to avoid leakage.
Your employer can also sign-up for the program. All their cartridges will be sent at no charge to the recycle company and the PTA will receive the cash back.(please contact the PTA for more information).
We have a group email address
Collins_pta@yahoo.com. There is also a box in the
office where you can leave us a note.
